Greetings to our family and friends! It seems that once we hit our 30's we joined the "oldie" ranks and failed to keep up with technology. But we have repented (thanks to Kristin and Josh) and are now proud to call ourselves official "bloggers"! No applause necessary.
Since Scott and I rarely change from moment to moment - with the exception of a pound or two - this will probably be a site devoted mostly to play by play moments of Ella. Most of which are pretty dang funny!
For example, a couple of months ago, Scott bought a beta fish and small frog for Ella as pets. She was thrilled, as was I, since it meant we didn't get a dog! She named the fish, Pancake (any guesses as to what she had for breakfast that day) and the frog, Hoppy. Pancake and Hoppy lived together in perfect harmony until he became ill and died from what we think was a blodclot in his leg. Hoppy took his final journey in the potty soon after and we thought we had been pretty sneaky about it - until today!
Scott asked Ella on the way home from preschool this afternoon if they should get another friend for Pancake. Ella asked for another frog and promptly followed her request by asking where Hoppy was. At the time of his death, we had told her that he was sick and had gone to the froggy hospital where he had to live from now on. I know, I know. This was a good opportunity for me to have the "death" conversation. But she's only three and I just wasn't ready yet. But I got another chance not too long after with the recent passing of President Hinckley. We talked about death and heaven and she seemed content knowing that it meant living with Jesus. The one part I guess I failed to talk about was where heaven was, which brings me back to the frog story.
I told Ella that Hoppy had died like President Hinckley and that they were living and playing together in Heaven with Jesus. She just looked at me for a minute, got a confused look on her face, and asked, "Is Heaven in the toilet?" As you can imagine, Scott and I burst into laughter, which made her cry, and so on and so on. And we are still perplexed as to how she knew that we flushed him down the toilet.
Oh, to be young and innocent again!!

OH MY GOSH!! I'm totally dying at work... that's so funny!! Poor Ella. I'm just waiting for Gracen's "Mr. Smiley" to die. You want another beta? :o)
KC - thanks for being our first comment! I think that entitles you to a free lunch or something. :)
Pretty dang funny!!!! I know we've already talked about the story, but it is still funny every time I read it. Happy blogging!
