Halloween Happenings

Let the Halloween festivities begin!! We were so lucky to have Grandma Miles with us for the holiday weekend. We saved up some of our favorite things to do while she was here, starting with carving the jack-o-lantern.
Ella used to hate digging the pumpkin "guts" out but now she looks forward to it. Letting her little fingers linger in the ooey gooeyness of it all!

Ella picked out a pattern with three ghosts. After tracing it on, we carefully cut it out. My hands were asleep by the end but well worth it!

The weatherman predicted rain for Saturday so we headed to Black Island Farms, our favorite pumpkin patch, on Friday afternoon.

Look at these gigantic carrots Ella found! They make scary horns!
Cole and Cade loved being outside. They were looking all around, especially at the animals. I think the hit of the afternoon was their teddy grahams though.
The ear of Eeyore that you see in Cade's hand above has a story. This is Cade's favorite thing. Whenever he is upset or before he goes to sleep, he looks for Eeyore, grasps his ear and sticks his thumb in his mouth. Terrible habit but so stinkin' cute. He dropped Eeyore a couple of times during our outing but we managed to keep track of him. Or so we thought. When we got home and went to tuck Cade into bed, Eeyore was missing. Not good! I got online and called a couple of stores but no one had an Eeyore. Then I searched for one on Amazon so we could at least get one on the way. Turns out, they don't even make this particular Eeyore anymore so I had to order it second hand. I paid more for shipping than the stuffed animal to get it here as quickly as possible. All of this was going on while Cade was screaming in his crib, not comforted at all by our attempts to soothe him with the ears of other animals we had. Grandma finally turned out his light and slipped him a doggy ear. He finally took it, out of shear exhaustion, I'm sure. But I just couldn't stand him not having his source of comfort. So, mom and I set out to find one. Three stores later, success! Not an exact match but close enough. I thought for sure Cade would be thrilled when he woke up to find his friend. But, he wasn't. I held the ear out to him and he touched it and pushed it away. He knew it was an imposter. Good thing the "real" Eeyore will be here soon!
There's so many fun things to do at this farm - feeding the animals, hay slides, animal tractor rides and a corn maze. Oh, and don't forget the yummy mini donuts and kettle korn.

On Saturday morning, Grandma and Ella made paper mummies!
As you can see, Ella has been busy creating Halloween art all month!

When our mummy was all wrapped, we made silly and spooky cupcakes!

And I wish I could take credit for this beauty but it was all mom! Isn't is amazing?! Super delicious, too!

Halloween greetings from Little Bo Peep, her sweet little Sheep, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf!

Grandma Tiger with the kiddos!
It was pouring rain when we went to go out trick-or-treating. None of the kids cared. The boys were as quiet as could be, loving being outside in all of the action. Ella was soaked but determined to fill her pumpkin! And she did! The boys were excited that she shared one of her candies with them. They sucked the chocolate out through the wrapper! Who doesn't love Halloween sugar?!
Happy Fright Night!

I loved the story of Cade and Eeyore! That is awesome! It reminds me of Britt...she still has to have her blanky before she can go to bed, serious.

Nice job on the costumes! Everyone looks great. It looks like you all had a great time and we're excited to see all of you in just over a month. I can't believe it has been so freakin' long since we've since those kiddos. They're not babies anymore.

See you soon!

Britt wanted me to tell you we had fluff & nutter waffles the other day thought of you.
