We had a great Halloween day! It started with our Boo Breakfast. Ella loved the yummy pumpkin bread and orange juice with pumpkin ice cubes. The boys weren't quite sure what they thought of the purple eggs but put a little blood (a.k.a. ketchup) on them and they were good to eat them up!After breakfast, we carved our Jack-o-Lantern. Ella always says how much she hates digging out the pumpkin guts but secretly I know she loves it. Cole was not interested in this event at all but Cade could not get enough of it!
Then it was on to making and decorating cupcakes for the neighborhood Halloween pizza party! The Bare's were so kind to let us bombard their preschool room. It was perfect for the kids. They loved eating the Jack-o-Lantern pepperoni pizzas! This was also the first big event for the newest addition to our friend family - Beatrice Jane Dickson. Beth's little girl was born just three days earlier and we love her!!
The night ended with some good 'ol traditional trick or treating. And, hooray, Cade and Cole actually wore their costumes. Ella, our blue crayon, rushed to the doors and the boys weren't far behind her. They didn't quite understand the concept though. They tried to walk in every house. By about the 5th one, Cole caught on that there was candy in the bowls. He loves circles (M&M's) and he knows what the bag looks like. So, he started looking for them at every door. Cade only made it a block before he was ready to go home. Scott took him back to help hand out candy to trick or treaters and I kept going with Ella and Cole. I expected Cole to tire out after a few more houses but he did three full streets and then hiked up the hill with us for hot chocolate and more candy. He was exhausted by the time we made it home but what a trooper!! Cade loved being home to open the door. He would run everytime the doorbell rang and would open and say "just one" so the kids would know they could only take one candy. Ella came home and dumped her bag out to see all that she had gotten. She ate a few of her favorites and then was more than ready for bed, as we all were. Happy Halloween!
