On Our Way

Last night, we kissed the boys goodbye for the week, knowing that they were in amazing hands with Jenn and Whitney and would be having a great time, too. And we loaded Ella in the car. She thought she was going to have a date night out with mom and dad. But she's pretty smart and it didn't take her long to ask why there was a suitcase sitting next to her. We told her that daddy had a business trip in California and we were going to go with him for the weekend. She was super excited! Little did she know....

After a quick plane ride and a crazy cab ride, we were in San Pedro, right next to the Port of Los Angeles. We stayed in a hotel right by the marina. Ella thought all of the boats were cool and loved walking along and telling us which ones were her favorite. There weren't a lot of places super close to the hotel but we did find a hole in the wall restaurant - Rex's - that was amazing! The neighborhood around it was pretty sketchy and I left feeling so grateful to be tucked away in our amazing neighborhood.
We spent the afternoon going on a walk, swimming, making crazy faces (thank, Tanya), and almost climbing a cool tree. As soon as Ella saw a spider web on one of the trunks, there was no way she was climbing it.

We spent the evening walking around Ports o Call, a little shopping and restaurant spot. It was packed with people doing everything from watching the football game to getting married. Ella couldn't resist the candy store and out of all of the amazing things there to eat, she picked gum. Silly girl! They had a lot of candy from when Scott and I were kids and we had a great time saying, "Do you remember eating this?!" or "These were my favorite!" We ended up eating at a restaurant right on the water and Scott and Ella were thrilled to eat tons of shrimp. And I was happy there was something besides seafood on the menu. All of it super yummy!

We got back to the hotel room and Ella crashed. For Scott and I though, it was like Christmas Eve. We were too excited to sleep!

Sweet Dreams, Sweet Ella!
