Ouch!

I knew that stitches were only a matter of time for us!  Especially with our no fear Caders!  Scott and I were in the kitchen when we heard Cade start to cry from our bathroom.  Ella was in taking a shower and we didn't really think anything of it.  Scott slowly walked in to check on him and the next thing I know he is carrying him out saying "Blood".  Scott was actually very calm considering...which is totally unusual for him.  After wiping some of the blood away, I knew it was going to need stitches.  He had fallen on our hard tile floor and spread it wide open.  I told Scott to hurry and call Instacare (they were about to close) and let them know we were on our way.  I loaded Cade in the car and headed off.  Suprisingly, he was pretty calm, only wimpering a little.  They took him right back and he kept telling them he had a big ouchy.  When they laid him down to get ready to stitch him up, they asked me if I wanted to step out.  Having never gone through this before, I wasn't sure what to do.  They told me they needed to numb his eye and then do the stitches.  I told them I wanted to stay and hold his hand but I didn't want to be responsible for making sure he stayed still.  So, while the nurse held his head, the doctor put the big numbing shot right above his eye.  I started to tear up but Cade was SO BRAVE!  I felt his little body start to tense up but he didn't cry out at all.  Just a few tiny tears streamed out of the corner of his eyes (which made even more tears stream out of my eyes).  It wasn't long before they were all finished and we were ready to go.  He slept great through the night with some Tylenol and was ready for Sunbeams the next morning.  With the split of our ward, this was their first official day in Sunbeams with their new teacher.  Cade was super excited to show everyone his eye - a right of passage for a boy, I guess.  And Cole wanted to be just like Cade so we gave him a bandage to match.  And it begins - the big bumps and bruises and hospital visits that come with little boys!
