Fair

Oh, the fair!  I am actually kind of nostalgic about the fair.  I remember when my dad used to make trailers and sell them at our local fair.  I remember sitting in the pits with my uncle when he would run in the tractor pulls.  I remember helping with scone nuggets in our ward food booth.  I remember the culligan water booth that had the magic faucet that was suspended in the air.  I remember being so excited to get my coca-cola all day wrist band so I could ride the rides over and over again with my friends.  So, when the fair comes to town, I always get excited to take the kids.
This year, we met up there with the Spencers.  The boys were so excited to hang out with Lincoln.  But Cade gave us a bit of a scare while we were waiting for their first ride.  I was standing with Cole and Julie was taking Cade and Lincoln to get in line for the roller coaster.  All of a sudden, Julie came running up to me and asked me if I had seen Cade.  He started to walk with her to get in line but by the time she got to the back, he was gone.  We both started walking up and down the row screaming his name and asking anyone if they had seen him.  Nothing.  I was starting to get panicked when Julie looked up at the roller coaster.  And there was Cade, arms in the air, all smiles.  Apparently, he couldn't be bothered to wait his turn in line so instead of going to the back with Julie, he just cut in line and got on the ride.  Oh Cade!
Cole, just chillin' with me.
Ella's face says it all!  By the end of this fair visit, I was convinced we were not ever going back.  We got separated from Scott and he didn't have his phone on him so it took us over an hour to get reconnected.  By the time we did, the kids were starving.  We got in a line for tacos but Scott decided he wanted something else to eat so he left to get in another line.  When I got to the front to order, I realized that he had all of the money with him.  Ugh!  We finally reconnected again and got our food and sweet lady helped us to maneuver it all over to a table.  I think she could tell I was almost to my breaking point.

We decided to end the night with a deep fried twinkie.  We got in yet another line, only to find out after waiting in it for a while that that was the pick up line, not the order line.  Just our luck!  So, I left Scott waiting in that one while I jumped in the other one to place our order.  Order done!  While patiently waiting to get it, a woman behind me holding a beer got bumped and she spilled her beer all over my foot.  Seriously!  By this point, I didn't even want my twinkie anymore but the kids wanted theirs so we waited.  They were burnt, disgusting, the kids wouldn't eat them.  We asked for new ones but that meant more waiting.  No thanks!  Oh, the fair.  I used to have fond memories of you.  Maybe I will have to go again just to redeem this trip!  It gave us all a good laugh though, a couple of days later.
