Miles Family Visit

We were so excited when Josh and his family decided to come and spend a few days in Salt Lake with us.  It's awesome that they are so close now that we can do these little weekend getaways.  The kids could not wait to be together and are giggling from the moment they see each other.  On Friday, we ventured out to City Creek.  I had not been there yet and was anxious to see it.  I was not disappointed!  Even the parking lot was clean and pretty.  You could have eaten off the floor!  We walked around a bit and then let the kids play in dinosaur land.  I think the memorable moment from this trip was Cole's reaction to the elevator.  He's been on them before and been a bit apprehensive but today he was absolutely terrified of them!  We had to get on and off several times and each time he was screaming and clawing to get out of his stroller.  He is definitely one that does not like being on anything that moves!  After a yummy milkshake, we cooled off and let them play in the pool for the afternoon before taking the older kiddos to see Brave. Great show!  Unfortunately, I thought I had my camera in my purse but did not so no fun pics for that day.
Josh and Britt had never been to This is the Place park so we decided that would be fun to explore on Saturday - even in the scorching heat!
Teegan was tired and asked for a stroller ride before we even made it through the main entrance. :) Luckily, that little rest gave him enough energy for the rest of the day.
I was so happy to see that the park was pretty empty.  I love being places where it seems like we are the only ones there.  We ate lunch under the big pavilion.  It was hard to get them to take more than a few bites.  They wanted to run around on stage and slide down the ramps.
And then came the train whistle!  Everyone was excited to ride, but Cole.  He screamed the first part of the trip.  Trains are usually one of the things he will ride.  He must have been having a really "off" day.

The next adventures were the pony rides and petting zoo.  This was Cade's first ride and he was smiling the entire time.  Cole - no way was he getting on a horse.  He was perfectly content to look at the piglets and chicks (the animal variety).

 Petting the goat.
Watching the Native American dancers.  At the end of the performance, they had all of us dance around the room.  Cade was standing by me at first but when I turned around to pick up Cole, he was gone.  I looked over and he was standing in between two dancers, totally happy to be there and oblivious that he was not by me.  I am amazed sometimes at the vast differences between these boys!
 Cooling off with a slushy!
Ella trying on a tin bonnet.
A quick shave at the barber shop.  Both boys sat super still, not sure what to think of what was being put all over their face.

Ella getting a haircut with a giant pair of scissors.
I wish we could spend a couple of days here.  There's so much to see.  Our last stop was one of the old homes that was relocated to the park.  We took a brief tour and then let the kids play in the backyard.  Ella is standing with the little boy who gave us the tour.  The swing was a big hit, even though it was hard to sit on it without falling off.
Max doing what we all wished we could do at the end of the day!

Thanks for a great visit Miles Family!  Already looking forward to the next one!
