Look Who's Turning 8!

Wow!  I cannot believe that my baby girl is 8!  The first thought that comes to my mind when I think about it is that we are officially at the half way mark to the Double D's - dating and driving!!  Crazy!  And to think I was dating and driving when my parents were my age.  Even more crazy!
Ella had two requests for her big day.  She wanted to get her ears pierced and have a Chocolate Chef party with her friends.  So, that's what we did.  On her actual birthday, we had a girls day.  We went to Kneaders for some yummy salads and sandwiches - and dessert! - and then headed to the Gem Smith for the big ear piercing moment.  Ella was a little nervous about how much it would hurt but she was brave!  I watched her anxiously as he put the gun in place and was prepared for lots of tears.  But she didn't even flinch!  She opened her eyes and said, "that's it!"  She could hardly wait to look in the mirror and made sure she knew just how to take care of them before we left.  So exciting!  Then we headed to Lagoon for some wild rides and then home for some more presents, cupcakes and a chat with daddy.  Super fun day - and there was still more to come!
A week and a half later, we had the big Chocolate Chef party with Ella and her friends - Austyn, Taylor, Brenna, Lily and Nicole.  I had a blast finding different decorating ideas and items.  We had matching chef hats and aprons for everyone.  We had candy jars filled with Hershey Kisses for favors and straws filled with chocolate beads that turned milk chocolatey. And we had delicious Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcakes!

 Chocolate Chef's in Training

Candy was our Chocolate Chef for the afternoon and she did an amazing job!  She was so personable and fun with the girls.  They made a chocolate bowl from a balloon.  They dipped strawberries, pretzels, and marshmallows.  They made chocolate molds and \played chocolate bingo!

They loved eating all of their creations!

We played guessing games and opened tons of fun presents!
And finished the day with chocolate facials - ewww!!! - and chocolate cupcakes!

 ~Happy Birthday Ella~

At eight years old...you are...
51.7 inches tall (75th percentile)
and weigh 56 lbs (45th percentile)

You love...dancing, playing the piano (something new you started this summer), going to Lagoon to ride Wicked, playing with your friends, watching America's Got Talent, making funny faces and doing silly voices, eating cookies, cupcakes, donuts and pastries - anything sugary and baked - shrimp, steak and salad.

You are...a fun and full of life girl!  You are...an amazing big sister - always willing to help and play with your little brother.  You are...a wonderful friend - always getting calls to go and play.  You are...a wonderful student - always working hard in everything you do from school to dance to piano.  You are...your mother and father's dream come true and the light of your little brothers eyes!
We are so excited for your big day and, most importantly, for your decision to be baptized in a few weeks.  Love You More!
