Hooray for 3!

My little boys are 3!  In some ways it feels like we just found out we were having twins! This has been a super fun year as they have really started to talk and their personalities are growing so much.  Everyone is always commenting to us how different they are and it's true!  They are true opposites and we love it!
Both boys have a great love of trains - especially Cole!  So I thought it would be fun to have a train party for them with all of our sweet neighbors.
I found these darling wooden trains at the craft store and can you believe that non-crafty me painted them!  I was way out of my league but thought they turned out pretty good.  The chocolate gold nuggets in the choo choo cars were a huge hit, too!

Another great party find was these conductor hats.  They also came with a cute red bandana, which neither of the boys was interested in wearing.  Cade only lasted a few minutes with the hat but Cole did not want to take his off. Total opposites, remember?!
Eating the chocolate gold nuggets!  Yummy!

Quite by accident, their big birthday present also followed the party theme - a train table!  Try as I might, I could not get Cole to peek out from under the brim of that hat to catch a picture of his face.
Unfortunately, daddy could not be home to celebrate with us.  Thanks heavens for Skype so he could be there for the excitement!
Mr. Happy and Mr. Sad blowing out their candles.  Cade could hardly wait!  He was so excited to light them and I am not sure that we made it through the song before he was trying to blow them out.  Cole, well, it must have been our singing.  As soon as the birthday song started, the screaming and tears followed close behind.  He kept saying, "No singing! No singing!"  Maybe next year we will have to give him some ear plugs.  He finally calmed down and was able to blow and make a wish.

~Happy Birthday Cole~

At three years old...you are...
36.2 inches tall (25th percentile)
and weigh 30 pounds (25th percentile)

You love...chocolate (as much or more than your mom) and particularly chocolate milk and tootsie rolls, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie, your blankie, going down the slide, riding trains, playing with your train table, Ella, all of your friends on our street - Lincoln, Logan and Abe, your purple car, Jamberry book, pipes (also known as straws), splashing in the bath, blue shirts, tomatoes and strawberry Sprite.

You are...my lovey dovey little man!  I get more kisses from you in a day than I can count.  You especially love to kiss ears and arms and sometimes my hair.  I joke that we are going to have to put a muzzle on you before kindergarten so you won't be kissing all the girls.  You have oodles and oodles of energy and are always running from room to room, usually chasing Cade. You do not like most of the rides at Lagoon and you definitely do not like elevators!  You like to wear your sunglasses and hats and love to give high fives and fist bumps.  You want to say the prayer whenever we ask and are great at repeating what we whisper to you.  You are always making funny noises and you love to make Cade laugh, especially when it's time to go to sleep!  You give the best snuggles and say the sweetest "I wuv ews."

Funny things you say...
Mom: "I'm almost done making your bed and you can take a nap."
Cole: "No thanks, mom."

Cade: "Coe, er to ittle." (to ride the school bus with Ella)
Cole: "No Cade! No too ittle."

Mom while changing a diaper: "Ewww, gross."
Cole: "Its no gross.  It's chocolate."

Love you more!!

~Happy Birthday Cade~

At three years old...you are...
37.5 inches tall (50th percentile)
and weigh 31 pounds (35th percentile)

You love...Eeyore (the donkey who can fix everything!), breadsticks, just milk (no chocolate), Team Umizoomi, green car, riding the dragon roller coaster at Lagoon, anything electronic, dancing, the swings at the park, elevators, Ella, all of your friends on our street-Lincoln, Logan and Abe, honking the car horn, doing everything by yourself, putting bubbles all over your face in the bath, the Giraffe book, carrots and your thumb.

You are...a mini me of your dad...so full of all things funny!  You are always saying, "Mom, Mom, Mom...come ear. I show you."  So many things excite you and you want to share them with everyone.  You are fiercely independent.  You want to do everything by yourself, which means it takes a long time to get in and out of the car and to walk anywhere.  You are a little shadow of Ella, wanting to always be with her and her friend, Austyn.  You have a bit of a mischievious side and you try to get Cole to do the naughty things, like get out of bed or turn on the light at night.  And you have no fear - of anything!  You have the biggest eyes and the sweetest giggles!

Funny things you say...
Cade: "Ook mom - buth!  Buth!"
Mom, not getting what he is saying at first, finally responds: "Oh, you mean bus."
Cade: "Ya. Good job, mom."

Mom: "Cade, come here so we can get dressed."
Cade: "Just a second, mom." (while holding his finger out)

Cade saying the prayer: "Ear Eavenly Father. Tank ew day. Tank ew cookies. Jesus Christ, Amen."

Love you more, too!!
